Utah Valley Doula
“GIving Birth Should Be Your Greatest Achievement, Not Your Greatest Fear”
– Jane Weiderman
I am Honored You’re here!
I am passionate about helping mother’s make empowerd, informed birth decisions.
The role of a doula is to support the mother so that she is as comfortable and informed as she can be. Using many relaxation techniques, different birthing posititons, visualization and forms of gentle massage, birth can be (and is!) a euphoric experience.
Whether you choose a medicated, non medicated, homebirth, hospital birth, elective cesarean, or anything else, you deserve to have a positive birth experince, and I want to help you along the way!
How I Can Help
Labor is a very vulnerable time in a woman’s life. A trained doula can lessen stress and ease anxiety during labor. With the decrease in stress levels, it is known to help to minimize the intensity of pain, leading to a smoothe and positive birthing process.
Studies have shown that having a doula as a member of the birth team decreases the overall cesarean rate by 50%, the length of labor by 25%, the use of synthetic oxytocin (pitocin) by 40%, and requests for an epidural by 60%. (source)
The days and weeks after birth are crucial for both a mother and baby. As a postpartum doula, I can provide both physical and emotional support. I am equipped to provide assistance with breastfeeding, nutrition, newborn care, errand running, older sibling care, overnight and sleep training help, and chores around the house so you can get the rest and care you need.
According to the American Pregnancy Association, placenta encapsulation is known to benefit a handful of imperative after birth issues. Some of these benefits include; increased release of the hormone oxytocin, which helps the uterus return to normal size and encourages bonding with the infant, increase in CRH, a stress-reducing hormone, decrease of post-partum depression, restoring iron levels in the blood, and an increase in milk production.
